Riot Games Permanently Bans This Popular Streamer For Misogyny

IShowSpeed, a popular streamer who has been in controversies well enough times to have his name synonymous with it is now back in the headlines with another controversy, but this time it's misogyny.

He has previously had a history of sexual remarks over other females with a well-known instance of it on Adin Ross's stream, which led to him being permanently banned off Twitch.

Recently, a month-old clip of him surfaced on the internet where he was found raging against the players in a match of VALORANT. The clip started with him losing the round and a teammate calling him out for missing his shots from where on he started on an insane rage spree calling that fellow teammate names like "monkey" and using obscene profanity which to a limit is expected in FPS games but he crossed the line when a female teammate spoke which opened the flood gates for IShowSpeed's misogynistic behavior.

He first called the female player out by saying "Is a b*tch speaking to me right now" numerous times to then saying "Is a female speaking to me right now" which led to him going on a misogyny spree where he went on to say remarks such as "What are you doing on this game" and "Get off the f*cking game and do your husband dishes b*tch." with extreme anger and rage.

He received backlash for his behavior from well-known personalities in the gaming and esports scene. One of the personalities who spoke out on this was Jake Lucky, the owner of Full Squad Gaming who called out IShowSpeed and his community for praising his behavior when it was derogatory and misogynistic.

Soon after Jake's tweet, Sara Dadafshar (@npcsara) who is a producer at Riot Games responded to the original tweet by saying "This is a huge yikes and we do NOT want players like this in our community at all. I went ahead and perma banned this player from VALORANT, as well as all other Riot Games."

Later after the clip went viral, IShowSpeed apologized over a Twitter video for his behavior saying:

"I wasn’t having a good day, you know? I was getting a lot of racist text-to-speech, donations, a lot of people talking about my dead aunt that’s in the grave right now,” Speed said. “I don’t want to make that no excuse, I’m wrong. Know what I’m saying? I’m not trying to justify. I don’t just bash on people for no reason, that’s where I’m coming from that."

“I apologized to that girl. I apologize. If that girl wants to hit me up and say anything, you know, I would love to hear her out. I apologize, that’s not me. That clip is from months ago. I am sorry man.”

Although there was a lot of backlash for his behavior, his young and impressionable following was supportive and defended his actions calling it "banter" and "trash-talk" in online games.
